Reflexology
This is a therapy where alternating pressure is applied to the feet in a special way. As the body appears to be mirrored in the feet the alternating pressure used activates the body’s energy to clear away blockages, allowing it to flow freely thereby encouraging healing. The whole body and its systems are affected and brought into balance - being naturally stimulated or calmed as necessary. As we have a map of the whole body's organs and structure on the feet it is sometimes possible to examine or 'read' the feet to relate to areas of the body that are problematic. Hard or thickened skin, cracks and crevices, toes not aligned properly etc. can all indicate areas that are out of balance. When having treatments, tender areas on the feet felt by the client and 'crunchy' or tight areas felt by the therapist indicate imbalances in the body. There is usually a gentle build up of benefit and it is normal to have an initial course of about 5 or 6 treatments to determine if Reflexology will benefit you. (It is quite normal to need 3 or 4 treatments before any pain relief is felt in situations where there is chronic pain) Once the benefits have been achieved time between treatments can be extended, and as determined by the client 'top ups' can be arranged as necessary. It is usually accepted that about 75% of people have a positive response with Reflexology and virtually all find it very pampering and relaxing. |
